Support for pharmacists throughout the festive season – Call 1300 244 910 to talk it over with a colleague

Not everyone enjoys the festive season.
Work pressures in pharmacy over the holiday period can be substantial with the end of the year “safety-net” rush, Boxing Day sales, holiday crowds in tourist areas and access to other health services such as medial practices are often limited.
Many pharmacists do not have the opportunity to relax with family and friends.

A sense of isolation can be exacerbated, especially if those around you are relaxing and celebrating and you are not.
It can also be a time of the year when feelings of grief and loss are more intense.
The New Year can bring anxiety about what the future holds.

If your usual support systems are not available and you need to talk, the Pharmacists’ Support Service (PSS) will be available to provide a listening ear throughout the holiday period from 8am to 11pm every day.
Call 1300 244 910 for anonymous and confidential support from a pharmacist colleague over the phone.

More information about PSS and some useful resources for pharmacists can be found on the PSS website at www.supportforpharmacists.org.au.

PSS relies on the generosity of the profession to continue its work.
Donations to PSS can be made by direct deposit into the Pharmacists’ Support Service bank account BSB 083-170 account number 145988064 with an email to admin@supportforpharmacists.org.au detailing your name and contact details so that a receipt can be issued.
Cheques can be sent to Pharmacists’ Support Service c/o 381 Royal Pde, Parkville 3052.
