NPS Medicinewise Reappoints Debbie Rigby To The Board

Consultant pharmacist Ms Debbie Rigby has been reappointed to the NPS MedicineWise board for a third and final three-year term.
NPS MedicineWise Chair Dr Janette Randall congratulated Ms Rigby and thanked her for her ongoing commitment to the work of the organisation.

“Debbie has been a strong performer for NPS MedicineWise and continually demonstrates her breadth of experience and widespread knowledge of the pharmacy sector.  Her public profile and extensive networks across both pharmacy and the broader health sectors are of significant benefit to the board.”

In addition to her role as a director of NPS MedicineWise, Ms Rigby is a consultant pharmacist practising in Brisbane. Her other roles include membership of the Australian Therapeutic Goods Advisory Council (ATGAC) and the Department of Health Natural Therapy Review Advisory Committee.  Debbie is an adjunct senior lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, University of Queensland and an Honorary Fellow, Queensland University of Technology.  She is also very active in pharmacist education and training and makes regular contributions to clinical journals and other publications.

Dr Randall highlighted the increasingly broad and important role that pharmacists have in the health care system.

“Through community pharmacy as a vital touch point for consumers—within hospitals, aged care and increasingly other primary care settings—pharmacists are contributing their skills and knowledge to support quality use of medicines.  Debbie’s knowledge and understanding of the sector assists NPS MedicineWise to support the work of pharmacists and to do this in partnership with key agencies in the sector.”
