EDITORIAL for Monday 29 December, 2014

Welcome to this week’s edition of Information to Pharmacists (i2P) E-Magazine.
I had some time over the holiday period to do a bit of housekeeping, some of which was to review some slideshows that I had wanted to read, but just hadn’t gotten around to it.
They began to stimulate my thoughts so I decided to share them with readers.

Each discusses a different topic and they are all interesting.
The material is basically stuff you might use for the “macro” processes in your business/practice.
It is certainly directional and valuable for those pharmacists wishing to break the shackles holding them back in personal and business development.

So here is a shorter i2P than usual but carrying some quite dense information presented in an interesting format.
One of the presentations compares slideshows with slidedocs.
I hadn’t really thought too much about these formats, but as I ploughed through that particular slideshow I found myself relating slidedocs to patient information and how a pharmacist specialty could be built around that process.
Better educated and informed patients will mean better outcomes.
It is also work that would help rebuild the pharmacist complement in a pharmacy and not having them viewed as a “bottom line” cost.
There is plenty that needs improving in pharmacy practice – it just needs to be encouraged and rewarded.
Have a happy and prosperous new year in 2015 and make sure you make clinical service development your primary objective.
i2P will ensure you have the right information.
