April 18, 2017
Innovative international pharmacist Dr Tim Hanlon will deliver a not-to-be-missed keynote address at the flagship annual conference PSA17 hosted by the peak national body for pharmacists, the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA).
Dr Hanlon’s keynote address Embracing Innovative Solutions to Respond to Increasing Global Pharmaceutical Care Needs will be presented on Friday, July 28 and will be a highlight of a program that includes many sessions with a global focus.
As Chief Pharmacist and Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in the UK, Dr Hanlon manages more than 400 staff and develops the role of the consultant and prescribing pharmacist workforce.
PSA National President Joe Demarte said Dr Hanlon’s career as a pharmacist in Australia and the UK has always been at the forefront of innovation.
“We are very excited to announce such a highly respected expert to headline PSA17’s innovative and diverse conference program,” Mr Demarte said.
Dr Hanlon’s address will focus on recent developments in the UK illustrating how new ways of working can prepare pharmacy for new roles and challenges in the years ahead. This includes consultant pharmacists across primary and secondary healthcare; clinical pharmacists in general practice; and pharmacists in emergency care, antimicrobial resistance and thrombosis.
“I look forward to discussing my experiences in using technology and outsourcing to enable more efficient health service delivery and use of resources,” Dr Hanlon said.

The conference will be held at the newly refurbished Hyatt Regency Sydney at Darling Harbour from July 28–30, 2017.
