A number of staged process have to occur ASAP. They include:
1. Stock liquidation – much of the existing inventory needs to be liquidated because of poor stock turn.
Stock turns for the entire pharmacy need to be at minimum 8 turns, with the objective of pushing on to 12 stock turns.
Control sheets containing a list of stock that will be kept are established. Anything that is not on the control list should be displayed for liquidation.
To liquidate, stock has to be heavily discounted (initially by 50%) and given a set time to sell. This will be 7 days.
The title given to this project is “Project Renew” and it applies to the entire pharmacy, but with major attention and focus on the professional activity within the pharmacy.
You will have already noted small changes appearing within the pharmacy and on a progressive basis you will see the phasing out of pharmacists from within the dispensing environment as alternative work is developed in a new clinical space to provide a range of clinical services.
